here's a few of my favorite things as of late. my journal, my grandpa's old polaroid camera that desperately needs film, but it's so damn expensive, pink H&M cami, a spanish rose succulent that I potted in a little el pato can after making some yummy potato enchiladas, my beloved vintage italian felt hat that brodie barfed all over...took some cleaning and is good as new, a pair of old beige suede boots that I've had for years and never wore until I sliced each one down the side to make them a little floppier and more wearable, some summer rereading (jitterbug perfume: Tom Robbins, Catcher In The Rye: J D Salinger, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn: Tom Sawyer, my iPad and it's new large vintage clutch turned iPad/laptop case, AA 50/25/25 heather grey tank that i live in every summer, old lucky denim cutoffs, BDG black cuffed Shorties, all things Harry Potter, my favoritest dress in the entire world.

SAFARI

Last Thursday I went to the Wild Animal Park (now known as Safari Park) in Escondido. I've lived in SD for 11 years and have never gone! I know, but now that I am planning on leaving this town, I have created a somewhat "Bucket List" of things I want to do he before I go and this is one of them. I went with my friends Alyson and Ashley...aka Ashleyson. Probably my favorite couple ever. Here's some shots from our adventure!

Today was a really good Monday. Why is it so nice to have Monday off? Strangely, I woke up at 5am for no reason, so after tossing and turning for 45 min, I got up and grabbed a soy chocolate ice cream sandwich and watched 2 episodes of The Office. Fell back asleep til 11.I rearranged my room and set the tv and DVD player back up. Now, since most of my music is still on my phone, I can hook it up to the tv and actually listen to it! Snag, danced and got girly. Later had dinner with Kika and watched a shitty movie with Kika and Sarah (my roomie). Now enjoying the DVD player and having a movie (2 Days In Paris) as background.

DINNER

A few nights ago, I made dinner for my roommate and myself. We had pork chops that I rubbed with olive oil and S&P and popped in the broiler for about 10 minutes. I made a fennel salad with just thinly sliced fennel, olive oil, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and some spices. I also made stuffed mini Portabellos. Mmmmmmmmmm!!! So good. Just some bread crumbs and seasoning topped with shredded mozzarella cheese and baked in a little white wine...which was the highlight of the evening, but not for the reason you would think. The girl that had lived here before me had left behind quite a bit of stuff, a dining table and chairs (which I later bought from her) and some other things I have since tossed but I had completely forgotten about a decorative 2 foot tall bottle of 2002 d'Aquino Pinot Grigio that was hiding in the cupboard. What a pleasant surprise and wonderful addition to our meal! Yay!

RENAISSANCE FAIRE

A few weeks back, Easter weekend, I went to the Renaissance Pleasure Faire with my mom and my cousin, Layla. NERD ALERT! This is something my mom truly enjoys and she has attended 21 out of the last 22 years, it has been going on much longer than that and has changed locations. The former location was much better, but whatevs. Any who, this is probably our last REN Faire in SoCal, so my mom insisted we go. I'm usually not a huge fan, but with my interest in jewelry making and crystals, I was much more willing this year...
My purchases this year were a silver skeleton arm pendant, a fox tail, and food food food. I thought I had taken pictures of the food, but I have no idea what happened to them, so I will give a little description. Bruschetta on thick Texas-style toast, freshly made with feta, and a HUGE cream puff drizzles with chocolate sauce! It was like the size of my hand!
At one point, we decided to pop a squat and watch a show to rest our feet. I don't remember what these guys were called, but they sang dirty, naughty songs and gave us a food laugh.
The highlight was the wand maker. He makes wands of all sorts, but he also makes replicas of Harry Potter wands. Layla was somewhat attached to Bellatrix LaStranges wand...which isn't a good thing! Haha. They were really cool. The wand maker gave us "phoenix" feathers. Red dyed feathers.
Overall, it was a fun day. Check out the REN Faire, if nothing else, for the people watching. It's hilarious. People get soooooo info it. Check out the Green Man here, with the weird knight chick!
